Academia

Are you employed in Academia? Perhaps as a supervisor, professor, or a young researcher? I offer tailored leadership development programs and specially designed courses for employees, leaders and young researchers, with a focus on enhancing wellbeing in performance.

I believe that we can all make Academia a brighter place by breaking down stigmas on mental

health and promoting a culture where wellbeing drives performance.

Mental Health Awareness Program (MHAP)

A live-online course for young researchers

Being a young researcher can be a demanding and challenging journey, both academically and personally. Taking care of your mental health is crucial to navigate this path successfully and maintain overall well-being.

In May 2020, and again in November 2020 and April 2021, more than 450 fantastic DTU PhD’s and Postdocs became part of the first Mental Health Awareness Program for Young researchers. The program was developed by my colleague Louise Witt and I, both at the time employed at DTU. It was the first of it’s kind at DTU. And we found out that working with wellbeing – even on a very personal level – is very possible online and in groups. In fact, several members have told us it made the whole difference for them; If it hadn’t been online, they wouldn’t have joined.

The program runs for 5 weeks, and includes a series of educational videos, exercises, workbooks and weekly workshops, and participants can engage in open discussions, share experiences, and learn about mental health.

Currently I am setting up a new program for DTU. And I will be more than happy to set up more programs at your institution. Perhaps we can even make up a MHAP-community across universities? So, Let’s talk – and help open up the discussion on mental health by connecting and sharing with others.

Train your attention, improve your ability to handle challenges, and achieve greater well-being.

This course provides you with the tools to integrate mindfulness into your daily life. You will learn techniques to be more aware of your mind and body, as well as how to manage negative thoughts and emotions.

Through a combination of theory, practical exercises, and group discussions, you will gain insight into how mindfulness can enhance your physical and mental health. The course is suitable for everyone, whether you are new to mindfulness or have prior experience.

The course consists of 5 instructional modules – 1 module released online each week – with teaching materials and workbooks.

Additionally, all course participants will meet on Zoom for 1 hour each week, where we will engage in a mindfulness practice, group work, and have time for Q&A.

In total, there will be 15 hours of instruction and group meetings.

After completing the course, you will have the necessary skills to start your own mindfulness practice and experience the many benefits it can bring to your daily life.

Breakthrough. A Personal Course for Young Researchers

As a young researcher, it can be challenging to navigate the academic world and deal with the accompanying challenges. It can range from finding a balance between work and leisure to handling conflicts with colleagues or supervisors.

In this course, you will have the opportunity to engage with other young researchers and discuss how life as a Ph.D. unfolds. Various topics will be introduced, such as imposter syndrome, well-being and performance, and stress along the way, which will form the basis of our dialogues. Participants can also suggest topics for discussion. The course will be facilitated by me, ensuring a safe and constructive experience for everyone.

Personal Leadership Development/Leadership Coaching

Are you in need of fresh perspectives on your leadership style? Are you challenged by the balance between power and care? Perhaps you are a new leader in Academia? Or you need your own “wingwoman” for a period of time?

In a personal leadership development program, we work together to identify and address specific challenges you encounter in your daily life. Through conversations, we explore new ways to handle or understand your leadership role.

Some of the topics that often arise in my programs include managing self-managing employees, balancing leadership and research time, communication, conflict resolution, decision-making, and team building. It can also involve managing stressful situations and making decisions with confidence and conviction.

Whatever is currently occupying your mind, a program with me is flexible and tailored to your needs.

My main goal in our collaboration is to help you succeed and thrive as a leader.
